From the North
From I-40, take the "Beltline" (Hwy 440/1) South, off ramp to the right. Follow 440 for 1/2 mile; take Western Blvd off ramp to the left, heading towards Raleigh. Follow for about 1 1/2 miles; NC State is on the Left. (Jordan Hall is tall brick and green glass building at intersection of Western and Morrill Drive/Avent Ferry Road). Take the first exit after the road divides, turn left on to Pullen Road (bridge across median), follow curve of road, cross RR bridge, large building on left with marble columns is the College of Design main building, Brooks Hall. Go around the round-a-bout and take the third left, Stinson Drive. Leazar Hall, home of NLI will be on your right as you approach the Visitor's Information Booth. See Parking, below.
If you take Hillsborough Street toward NC State University campus. The campus will be on your right. Proceed past the University to Pullen Road and turn right. Turn right on Stinson Drive. The College of Design main building, Brooks Hall, will be on your left. Leazar Hall, home of NLI will be on your right as you approach the Visitor's Information Booth. See Parking, below.
From the South
Head towards Raleigh on I-40. Take 440 West, towards Cary, exit at South Saunders Street (exit 298A). At the foot of the exit ramp, turn right, go up the hill, at the top the main highway curves to the right and descends (enjoy the view of downtown Raleigh). Take the first exit ramp to the right (with tight curve) up to Western Blvd. Turn left on to elevated Western Blvd. Go about 1 mile (under railroad bridge, Central Prison on right, Pullen Park on right. Turn right on to Pullen Road, follow curve of road round to right, cross RR bridge, large building on left with marble columns is the College of Design main building, Brooks Hall.. From downtown, take Hillsborough Street toward NC State University campus. Turn left on Pullen Road. Turn on the round-a-bout and take the immediate left, Stinson Drive. The College of Design main building, Brooks Hall, will be on your left. Leazar Hall, home of NLI will be on your right as you approach the Visitor's Information Booth. See Parking, above. Parking: Proceed to the Visitor's Information Booth on Stinson Drive. Tell them you have a meeting at the College of Design and request a temporary parking permit for the Colisium Parking Deck.
The charge is $2.00.
Parking Lot: You will receive the parking pass and directions and told to park in the Cates Avenue/Colisium Parking Deck on the other side of the railroad tracks. You will have to walk from there to the Leazar Hall. Please allow an extra 10 mins for this.
Finding the NLI office: Exit the parking deck, cross Dunn Avenue and go through the tunnel under the rail tracks. Continue under the white building in front of you. Continue diagonally across the vast sea of cars towards a flight of brick steps rising through a gap in the line of trees ahead of you. At the top, cross Stinson Drive and head towards the lower level, backside of Leazar Hall immediately ahead. Pass under the staircase terrace brick structure to the front door. A receptionist will let you in and show you the location of NLI on the same floor.
